Animation, in the technical sense is the technique by which each frame of a movie or film is produced individually through different methods like generating them as computer graphics, photographing drawn images or even making small changes to a model and then photographing them. When these frames are joined together and viewed at a rate of 16 or more frames per second, we have the illusion of continuous unbroken movement. But who is bothered about these technical aspects?! When you and your children sit enthralled by movies like Alladin, Snow White or Finding Nemo, would you have time to think about what happened behind the screens?
Animation has been in existence from the 1950s, when most of the animation was produced by independent studios or individuals. There are different styles of animation in existence now like the traditional, rotoscoping, computer animation, cutout animation, motion capture, limited animation all of them developed over the years using different technologies. The first animated cartoon was created by Emile Reynaud, who exhibited animations having loops of 500 frames.
One of the oldest and most famous names in animation is that of Walter Elias “Walt” Disney, the American producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor and animator. He is also the founder of The Walt Disney Company and the creator of the theme park, Disneyland. There are different styles of animation like the traditional, rotoscoping, computer animation, cutout animation, motion capture, limited animation all of them developed over the years using different technologies.
The Lion King is one of the most famous animated movies, which tells the story of Lion father Mufasa and the love for his son, Simba. Simba and his friends, Timon and Pumbaa along with the beautiful and lively animation makes the movie a hot favorite among kids and adults. Another one of the animation movies with a great story line is Toy Story, with its wonderful characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear tells a story of the strength of friendship and loyalty.
