Gallery Description
Photography has fascinated and thrilled man from the time when it was invented in the 1830s. The earlier methods of photography were quite primitive and difficult to use. But nowadays with the advancement in technology, taking photographs have become extremely easy. From the point and shoot cameras that involves minimal adjustments from the side of the user to panoramic cameras and other professional cameras, photography has come a long way. The latest in the line are the sleek digital cameras where taking photographs and printing them is made very easy.
From the time photography was born, there has been major discussions on whether it is an art or a technique. For some, photography foretold the end of paintings, drawings, lithography and prints, but artists always argued that a machine could never produce a work of art. During the 1890s, the pictorialists tried to marry art and photography by taking artistic photographs and then touching it up with brushes. But soon photography returned to its pure form when photographs were given no additional decorations other than framing them. Very soon, photography took up the codes of modern painting. The Bragaglia brothers introduced the Futurist photodynamic, which illustrated the philosophy of life force through their paintings. The Russian Constructivists brought in the surprising compositions. Thus there has been many attempts by artists to combine photographic techniques with art.
Art is the conscious production or arrangement of sounds, forms, colors, movements or other elements in a manner that affects the beauty and meaning of existence of an art form. Art is the production of works of beauty and meaning. Art is the artist’s means of expressing his thoughts and beliefs, ideas and emotions in a way that makes his art form a reflection of himself. Art has always been appreciated by men of all times. Art photography is the style of photography that combines the elements of art with the technique of photography. The photographers use the elements of color and contrast so beautifully to make their paintings, works of art.
