Canvas transfers are done by professionals; many online sites that sell paintings offer canvas transfer services themselves. The process of getting a painting transferred to canvas may take about a week or more. The process itself though not difficult, requires expertise and careful handling.
To make a canvas transfer, first two coats of clear liquid are applied to the front of the print; this adds protection against UV and also gives a semi-glossy look to the print. The print is then submerged in a bath; once the paper is softened it is removed such that only the image is left. The image is now bonded to a fine grade canvas. The finished canvas transfer is mounted onto wooden stretcher bars that are custom-made for the print. These transfers are now ready for framing. There is no great difference in the way canvas transfer paintings are framed from the way a normal print is framed.
Canvas transfer paintings are just as good as the original ones. There is no loss of details, color or effect in a canvas transferred painting.
