Gallery Description
Lighthouse is a tower or tower like structure that displays light to aid mariners. They are usually built near the dangerous areas of the sea or close to the seacoast. Lighthouse has been in existence for ages. It is believed that the Pharos of Alexandria- one of the seven wonders of the ancient world is the oldest lighthouse that we know today. The Romans, Greeks all of them built lighthouse structures too.
Lighthouses are usually stoned-structure that are covered by glass on top. The glass-covered room has the light, which is reflected. The glasses are usually prisms that strongly refract the light so that it is amplified greatly: this helps the sailors to spot the lighthouse from great distances.
They are the invention of some marvelous brain! Today, lighthouses are greatly advanced in terms of their function and structure.
