Gallery Description
Paul Colin (1892-1986)
Paul Colin was born and raised in France. At an age of 15, Colin developed interest in art; much against his father’s wishes he joined in a painting house as an apprentice and by the time he was 18, he joined L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts school. Through out his study Colin did very well and excelled in his studies.
Colin’s work soon became popular but it was his first poster that announced to the world that a great artist had arrived. He arrived in Paris during the time of World War I and got stuck in the war; after the war ended, Colin resumed his career in poster making in Paris.
In Paris, Colin developed a strong liking for theatre and its performers. He became associated with more and more theater artists and it was from here that he drew his inspiration. His art Deco style, vivid colors and use of theater artists and other performers as his subject proves his passion for all forms of art. Colin’s paintings are characterized by bold images, clean lines and brilliant hues and they way they are all blended.
Today, his posters and other works of arts are sought after all round the world. Many of them adorn the walls of the great art museums across the globe. Our gallery brings you a collection of Paul Colin’s posters and prints.
