Every Christmas that you have celebrated you have got gifts from the mighty and jolly Santa. Santa claus is an embodiment of kindness and benevolence to us all. Wonder how the Santa ever came into being?
Santa is an inspiration from the real life, St. Nicholas of Myra( in Turkey). St. Nicholas is known to have been the champions of Children and the needy. According to legend, St. Nicholas is thought to have anonymously helped a very poor Italian family by dropping three bags of gold coins through an open window in the middle of the night. This story has led to the current practice of the appearance of Santa at nights to drop gifts anonymously.
Santa's jolly appearance today is the result of blending of innumerable beliefs and practices around the world.
However the spirit that Santa represents, that of love, generosity and benevolence remains undiluted across the globe.
