Gallery Description
Warren Kimble, is America's best-loved contemporary folk artist. He has created his distinctive style by combining his love of Americana, antiques and collectibles, architecture, and paintings.
Drawn to art and painting ever since childhood, Warren received his formal art training from Syracuse University, graduating with a bachelor of fine arts degree in 1957. After an early career in advertising, he taught art in the public schools and later joined the art faculty at Castleton State College in Castleton, Vermont. He left the college in 1983 to pursue his passion for painting full time. In 2002, Mr. Kimble was presented an honorary doctorate of fine arts from Green Mountain College in recognition of his lifelong contributions to the arts and education.
Warren's whimsical paintings, created in a folk art style relies upon his carefully crafted color palette, individually selected fragments of antique woods, and masterfully chosen patterns and subject matter.
His stylized landscapes, seascapes, animals, and other subjects appear on products from dinnerware, to wall and floor coverings, to furniture and textiles, to wood and ceramic decorative accessories.
